Online Personality Evaluation for Adults in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Arizona

Locascio Wellness offers online personality evaluations for adults in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Arizona. A personality evaluation looks at long-standing patterns in how you think, feel and relate to others, and can help make sense of a diagnosis that has been unclear. It takes place by secure video and ends with a written report.

This might be for you if

  • You have been given different diagnoses over the years and none has fully fit
  • The same difficulties keep showing up in your relationships or at work
  • You have tried therapy before and want a clearer picture to guide what comes next
  • A therapist or doctor has suggested an evaluation to clarify what is going on
  • You want to understand your long-standing patterns, including your strengths

What a personality evaluation is

MedlinePlus, from the National Library of Medicine, describes personality as your own way of thinking, feeling, behaving and relating to others. A personality evaluation looks closely at those long-standing patterns: how you tend to see yourself, handle emotions and connect with other people.

It is not a quiz that sorts you into a type, and it is not a judgment of your character. It is a careful, structured way of understanding patterns that have been with you a long time, so that you and anyone supporting you can make better-informed choices. Personality testing can be done on its own or added to another evaluation.

Why adults ask for one

Many people come because the picture has been unclear. They may have been treated for anxiety or low mood for years and still feel that something has not been named. An evaluation can help make sense of a diagnosis that has been uncertain.

Sometimes the question is whether a personality disorder is part of the picture. MedlinePlus describes personality disorders as a group of mental disorders that involve long-term patterns of thoughts and behaviors that cause serious problems with relationships, work and social activities, and can make it hard to deal with everyday stresses. It says they usually begin in the teens or early adult years.

According to that source, people often look for help because of other mental health symptoms or problems with relationships and work, and not because of the pattern itself.

What an evaluation can and cannot tell you

MedlinePlus says a mental health care provider can diagnose personality disorders by considering a person's symptoms, experiences and family medical history, and that a thorough medical exam may also be done to help rule out other possible causes of the symptoms. We do not provide medical exams, so that part belongs with your doctor.

We cannot tell you ahead of time what an evaluation will find. It may point to a personality disorder, to another condition, to more than one thing, or to no diagnosis at all. If attention or social communication is your main question, our ADHD evaluation page may be a better fit.

What this evaluation is not

  • It is not a pre-employment or fitness-for-duty screening
  • It is not a verdict on who you are. A diagnosis describes a pattern, not a person's worth
  • It is not a promise that any school, employer or agency will accept a report. Ask whoever requested it exactly what they need and who must sign it, and share that before you book
  • It is not treatment. Therapy is a separate service

How an online personality evaluation works

The evaluation is carried out entirely by secure video. There is no office to visit. You need a phone, tablet or computer, an internet connection and a private place where you can talk freely. You must be physically located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia or Arizona during your appointments.

The National Institute of Mental Health lists a mental health assessment and diagnosis among the services that can be provided virtually. Personality evaluations are among the psychological evaluations we offer this way.

An evaluation usually involves an intake appointment, then one or two sessions, then time for the written report. At the moment, the report is usually ready about a month after the first evaluation appointment, so tell us about any deadline. The findings are explained to you in plain language, with time for your questions.

An evaluation is not emergency care. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, or call 911. Locascio Wellness does not provide emergency or crisis services.

After your evaluation

A clearer picture can make the next step easier to choose. MedlinePlus states that talk therapy, also known as psychotherapy, is the main treatment for personality disorders.

If you would like ongoing support, therapists on our team work with adults on mood, relationships and the effects of difficult experiences. Our depression therapy and trauma and PTSD therapy pages explain more. Therapy is a separate service from an evaluation, and it is always your choice. You are also free to take your report to a therapist you already see.

Who carries out the evaluation

Evaluations are carried out by Dr. Anthony Locascio, who holds a Doctor of Psychology degree (PsyD) and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Arizona. He is completing licensure as a psychologist, so every evaluation is supervised and every report is co-signed by Jace St. Cyr, a licensed psychologist (Pennsylvania license PS020275).

He has carried out more than 300 psychological evaluations, most of them with children and teens.

Questions people ask

What is a personality evaluation?

A personality evaluation looks at long-standing patterns in how a person thinks, feels and relates to others. It can help make sense of a diagnosis that has been unclear. At Locascio Wellness it is carried out by secure video for adults, and it ends with the findings explained in plain language, time for questions and a written report.

Can a personality evaluation be done online?

Yes. At Locascio Wellness the whole evaluation takes place by secure video, so there is no office to visit. You need a device, an internet connection and a private place to talk. You must be physically located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia or Arizona during your appointments.

How much does a personality evaluation cost, and does insurance pay?

Will the evaluation tell me whether I have a personality disorder?

An evaluation gives a careful, professional answer based on the information gathered, but we cannot say ahead of time what it will find. It may point to a personality disorder, to another condition, to more than one thing, or to no diagnosis. Whatever the result, the findings are explained to you in plain language, with time for your questions.

Do you provide personality testing for employers or job applications?

No. We do not offer personality evaluations as a pre-employment or fitness-for-duty screening. Our personality evaluations are for adults who want to understand their own long-standing patterns or clarify a diagnosis. If an organization has asked you for an evaluation, tell us exactly what it requested and we will say plainly whether we can help.

Do you offer personality evaluations for children and teens?

We also evaluate children and teens, and a parent or guardian arranges the evaluation and takes part. This page is written for adults, so send the evaluation request form or call 267-573-9817, tell us your child's age and who is asking for the evaluation, and we will talk through what fits.
