FAQ

Good questions, straight answers

Everything people ask us before they start. If yours is not here, ask us. There are no silly questions in therapy.

Getting started

How do I get started with Locascio Wellness?

Book a free 15-minute video consultation on our booking page. We will ask what you are looking for, answer your questions and match you with a therapist licensed in your state. You choose a time straight from your therapist's calendar, and our administrative team verifies your insurance. You can also call 267-573-9817.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The 15-minute consultation costs nothing and there is no commitment to continue. It is a chance to ask questions and see whether we feel like a good fit before you schedule a first session.

Which states do you serve?

Locascio Wellness is an all-virtual practice serving clients in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Arizona. You need to be physically located in one of those states during your session, and we match you with a therapist licensed where you are.

Do you have an office I can visit?

No. All therapy sessions are held by secure video, so you can meet from home, your car on a lunch break, or anywhere private. Our administrative office is in Havertown, Pennsylvania, and it does not see clients.

Who do your therapists work with?

Our team of licensed professional counselors and licensed clinical social workers works with children from age 7, teens, adults, older adults, couples and families. Each therapist has different areas of experience, which you can read about on our team page. We help you find the right match.

Insurance and cost

Does Locascio Wellness take insurance for online therapy?

Yes. We are in-network with Aetna, Cigna, Highmark, Independence Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Geisinger, Optum, UnitedHealthcare and Medicare. Coverage depends on your plan and your state, so we check your benefits before your first session. We do not accept Medicaid. See insurance and fees.

What will I pay per session?

With insurance, your cost is the copay, coinsurance or deductible amount set by your plan. We verify that before you start so you know what to expect. If you are paying yourself, a first session is $190 and each 50-minute session after that is $160.

Can I use therapy without insurance?

Yes. Self-pay is $190 for a first session and $160 for each 50-minute session after that. If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before your care begins. Details are on our insurance and fees page.

How long is a therapy session?

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Your therapist will agree with you how often to meet, and you can book each session at a time that suits you from their online calendar.

What happens if I miss an appointment?

A $50 fee applies if you do not show up for a scheduled appointment. Insurance does not cover missed-appointment fees. If something comes up, let your therapist know as early as you can so the time can be offered to someone else.

Do you accept Medicaid?

No, we are not in-network with Medicaid at this time. If you have Medicaid, your plan's member services line or your state's crisis and referral line can help you find an in-network provider.

How online therapy works

What do I need for a video session?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a steady internet connection, and a private spot where you can talk freely. Headphones help. We send you a secure link, so there is nothing complicated to set up.

What happens in a first therapy session?

Your therapist invites you to share what has been going on and what you would like to be different. You do not need to prepare or have the right words. Together you agree on goals and how often to meet.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes. Our therapists set their own schedules, and many of them work evenings and weekends. When you book, you see each therapist's open times and pick the one that suits you.

Is online therapy confidential?

Yes. Sessions are private and held over secure video. The legal exceptions are the same as in any therapy: a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult. Our Notice of Privacy Practices explains your rights.

Care we do and do not provide

Do you prescribe medication?

No. We provide therapy and counseling, not medication management. If you and your therapist think medication is worth exploring, we can talk about how to find a prescriber, and your therapist can coordinate with them with your permission.

Do you offer psychological evaluations?

Yes. We offer psychological evaluations by secure video, including autism, ADHD, intellectual functioning, personality and disability evaluations. They are private-pay rather than billed to insurance: $1,800 for an autism evaluation and $2,200 for a full battery, with a sliding scale available. See psychological evaluations.

What if I am in crisis?

Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or call 911. Locascio Wellness does not provide emergency services, and messages to us are not monitored around the clock. State crisis lines are listed on our crisis resources page.

Can I switch therapists if it is not the right fit?

Of course. The relationship with your therapist matters, and it is completely fine to ask for a different match. Let us know and we will help you find someone else on the team.
